¿QUE OCURRE EN OXFORD Y HARVARD?

Dicen que las Universidades de Oxford y la de Harvard son las mejores del mundo. Numerosos estudios académicos así lo acreditan. ¿Qué tiene Oxford y Harvard que las demás universidades no tienen? Me pregunto.

Me fascina saber que tiene Oxford y Harvard. Quiero saber que personas relevantes han pasado por sus aulas. Investigando por Internet me llevo la grata sorpresa de ver muchos ejemplos de universitarios que estudiaron en esta universidad. Estudiantes que han influido y que están influyendo en las estructuras políticas, sociales y culturales de sus respectivos países.

Yo me he quedado con tres nombres: Tony Blair, Alvaro Vélez Uribe, el Cardenal Newman y John Kennedy. Blair, estudió en Oxford, ha sido elegido primer ministro de Gran Bretaña en tres ocasiones de la mano del laboralismo inglés. El año pasado se convirtió a la Iglesia Católica. Blair inicio esta aventura religiosa desde las aulas de Oxford y fue capaz de seguir su conciencia a pesar de las responsabilidades que él tenía.

Álvaro Vélez Uribe, es el actual presidente de Colombia. Lleva ejerciendo el cargo desde el año 2002. En este breve periodo de tiempo ha conseguido erradicar la corrupción del país, disminuir drásticamente las operaciones terroristas de las FARC y ha hecho de Colombia uno de los estados con más estabilidad social y económica de Sudamérica.

El Cardenal Newman. Profesor y pastor anglicano del siglo XIX. Participó activamente en lo que se llamo el ‘movimiento de Oxford’. Este movimiento intelectual formado por estudiantes y profesores defendían una Iglesia anglicana que siguiera las tradiciones romanas. Este movimiento tuvo una notable influencia social, política y religiosa en la Inglaterra del siglo XIX. El Cardenal Newman abandonó la Iglesia anglicana y se convirtió al catolicismo arrastrando tras de sí a los mejores intelectuales de Gran Bretaña de aquella época.

John Kennedy. Estudió en la Universidad de Harvard. Allí conoció a un grupo de estudiantes y juntos se propusieron cambiar el mundo. Todos le decían que no llegaría a ningún sitio, que era un utópico. Su ideología: la igualdad material de todos los ciudadanos americanos. Kennedy fue elegido presidente de Estados Unidos en 1960. Su lucha contra el crimen organizado y sobre todo, su apoyo al movimiento por los derechos civiles le costó la vida en 1963.

Debería tomar buena nota las universidades europeas. Aprender del sistema educativo universitario del mundo anglosajón. Las universidades están para despertar conciencias, no para adormecerlas. Los universitarios están para soñar con mejorar el mundo, no para conseguir un buen sueldo. Los profesores están para interrelacionar con el estudiante, no para imponer una visión uniforme del mundo.

WHAT HAPPENS IN OXFORD AND HARVARD?

The people say the best world universities are Oxford and Harvard. Many academic studies thus prove it. What happen in these universities?

I would like to know what Oxford and Harvard have. I would like to investigate what kind of people studied in their clasroom. Looking for on Internet I find a lot of examples of many people who were studing there. Students that have and had an essential influence over the social, political and cultural structures in their countries.

I’ve taken four names: Tony Blair, Álvaro Uribe, Newman Cardinal and John Kennedy. Blair studied in Oxford and he became a british president in 1997. He was elected primer minister three times. The last year he entered in the Catholic Church. Blair started this religious aventure in the Oxford’s clasroom. He achieved to follow his way and his concience despite his political responsabilities.

Alvaro Uribe is the actual president of Colombia. He was elected in 2002. During his govern he has achieved to eradicate the political corruption, to reduce the FARC terrorist and to lay Colombia as a stable nation in the economic and political way. He studied in Harvard and was a teacher in Oxford.

Newman Cardinal was a teacher and priest at the Oxford’s university. He take part of the ‘Oxford moviment’. This moviment was sharped by students and teachers and take place in the XIX century. They defended the necesity that the English Church come back to the Roman tradition but without the Pope’s authority. The intellectuals reject the political influence over the anglican church. Newman, after to think and investigate about the both churchs entered in the Roman Catholic Church. This moviment has an important social, political and religious influence in the England of the XIX Century.

John Kennedy. He studied in Harvard university. In his student ages take part in a little group of people who wanted to change the world. The people though that they never arrive to any place. They were utopics. However Kennedy was elected president of EE.UU in 1960. He was coherent with himself. He applied and developed the principles that learnt in Harvard with his clasroom: the equiality among all american citizens. Under his govern combated hardly against the mafia and defended the black’s rights. He died for his principles.

The european universities should be learn the anglosaxon education system. The universities should awaken consciences not to make sleep it. The students are there to dream how to change the world, not in order to get a good salary. The teacher are there to connect with the students, not in order to impose his particular vision of the world.

LA SOCIEDAD EN UNA "NORIA".

Sábado por la noche. Haciendo zapping conecto con el programa ‘La Noria’ de Telecinco. Están tratando un tema relativamente serio: la regulación de la prostitución. La mesa la compone el presentador y los tertulianos. Entre los tertulianos hay defensores y detractores de la regularización de la prostitución.

El debate se ha iniciado hace unos cuantos minutos. Ambas posturas se enredan en una feroz discusión. El público asiste callado. El padre Apeles defiende la postura de la no regularización de la prostitución. Su argumento: la mayoría de las chicas que ejercen la prostitución en la calle lo hacen bajo la extorsión de la mafia.

Para apoyar su argumento indica que la mayoría de prostitutas provienen de países pobres por ello nunca encontraremos chicas provenientes de países ricos, como Suiza.

Aquí aparece la sorpresa. Un tal Jimmy hace su primera intervención: “las suecas son unas sosas en la cama”. Evidentemente el resto de tertulianos siguen el debate ajeno a tal afirmación. Sin embargo, el público de ‘La Noria’, después de echar unas carcajadas se pone a aplaudir a Jimmy.

¡Dios mio! Ese comentario tan absurdo es lo que le ha movido al público para aplaudir. El público, de todo el debate, con lo que se ha quedado es que las suecas son sosas en la cama.

Amigos, esto es lo que hoy en día tenemos en España. Una sociedad que esta subida en ‘la noria’ en donde los mediocres, los superficiales y los frívolos se llevan los aplausos y los votos de los ciudadanos.

THE SOCIETY IN A 'BIG WHEEL'.

The last Saturday. Changing of channel TV I conect with the ‘La Noria’ (big wheel) program in the Spanish channel 5. They ‘re talking about the prostitution on the street. Should be regulated? This was the question. The debate’s table are form by the moderator and the tertulianos. The tertulianos defended differents positions.

The debate began few minuts ago. Both ideological positions to get complicated discussion. The public is lisening in silence. Apeles (one of the tertulianos) is against of the prostitution’s regulation. His reason: most of the women who are on the street ‘working’ in the prostitution is because they ‘re under the mafia’s power and they ‘re exploited.

In order to support his reason he note that most of these women come from poor countries, then you will never find girls who comes from rich countries, like, for example, Switzerland.

Here comes the sorprise. Jimmy (another ‘tertuliano’) notes: “the Switzerland’s girls are very bore on the bed”. Evidently, the tertulianos follow the debate without take care about the Jimmy comment’s. However, the ‘La Noria’ public start to guffaw and to applaud the Jimmy’s comment.

¡Oh my God! This afirmation so absurd is caused the public reaction. The public, about all the debate, just has taken attention about the Switzerland’s girls on the bed!

My dear friends, this is the Spanish society that we’ve today. A society which are always in a ‘big wheel’ where the mediocres and superficials people get the appalud and the votes of the citizens.
